  • Go over a basic launch day
    • Launch Locations: Harrington, Ritzville, or Sprague
    • Timeline (if launching from Harrington or Ritzville)
      • ~3:30 AM - Team Leads arrive at Ham Shack
      • ~4:00 AM - Arrive at Ham Shack
        • Pack up Equipment
      • ~4:30 AM
        • Depart Ham Shack
      • ~6:30 AM – Arrive at launch site
        • Check for overhead obstructions (such as power lines)
        • Begin to set up your equipment
        • Ensure tracking equipment is functioning
        • Begin to fill up balloon
        • String together balloon train
      • ~7:30 AM – Launch payload
        • Try to launch shortly after sunrise when the surface winds are calmest
        • Have tracking vehicles head towards expected landing site, and adjust as needed
      • ~8:45 AM – Balloon bursts, payload begins to descend
      • ~10:00 AM – Payload returns to surface
        • Hopefully the tracking team is not too far behind to make a quick recovery
      • ~11:00 AM – Hopefully the payload should be recovered by this time
      • ~12:30 PM – Return to Ham Shack
    • Come Prepared
      • Wear jeans, boots (or old shoes)
      • Bring jackets (will be cold in the mornings)
      • Bring water, sandwiches for lunch
    • Do not rush onto people's property
      • We have to introduce ourselves and gain permission to access their land
  • Logbook Check - Wednesday after launch
