Radio Communications

Team Description
Comm team is centered around HAM radios. We use these radios to track the RISE payloads as they travel through the atmosphere, as well as to facilitate communications between tracking cars.  Comm is the team that guides the recovery mission and it is our responsibility to ensure a safe and efficient recovery.

 Comm Tutorial     To write tutorial explaining Comm team's job during pre-launch, launch, and post-launch.
Micro-Trak Shell
To fabricate one Micro-Trak  inclosures from fiberglass covered foam.
Micro-Trak Power 
To experimentally measure how much power a Micro-Trak uses and transmits.
Preservation of Knowledge
-Antennas
To document the procedure for fabricating J-Pole antennas, including how to crimp SMA connectors.
Altitude SwitcherTo create a circuit that switches the Micro-Trak to transmit mode 2 above 5,000 ft. Mode two will be set on a less frequent transmit interval to decrease flooding the APRS network.

Project Name Description
I-GateAvoid polluting public APRS frequencies by pathing to custom Internet Gate.
Learning to use TinyTrak4The TinyTrak4 small packet encoding/decoding device, with versatility that makes it a powerful addition to the Comm team's equipment.  Learning how to properly leverage it beyond simple TNC decoding is an ongoing project.
